April 19 - April 28, 2010

With Experienced Tour Hosts,

John & Faun Aleen Tranbarger
This will be our sixth tour of the Holy Land!

optional pre-tour Mediterranean Cruise
April 14 - 20, 2010

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise!
Psalm 100:4

Nothing can touch your heart and expand your personal understanding like joining fellow Christians to walk where Jesus walked.  Suddenly, stories and names take on new life and meaning as you study and experience the reality.   With the unique guidance of John and Faun Alene Tranbarger, you will visit the sites where our Savior Jesus Christ struggled, taught, blessed, died, and lived again.

This spiritual journey in Israel is sure to bring you new understanding amid the fellowship of other seekers.  And those who want to extend the experience into areas of Paul’s teaching and travels can see the Bema in Corinth, Mars Hill in Athens, and the stunning ruins of old Ephesus.  You’ll even visit the cave where John received the book of Revelation. This wonderful extension allows you to combine the delight of cruising with the experience of sites so meaningful to our Christian history.

See below for more exciting details.  Then clear your calendar;  Dr. and Mrs. Tranbarger look forward to traveling with you.

Welcome to the Holy Land of our Lord!

2010 Tour of Israel

April 19

Depart from the U.S. - Today we embark on what can be the Inspirational Journey of a lifetime from O’Hare airport in Chicago, Ill, flying by way of Frankfurt, Germany. You can relax on the flight, for tomorrow you will be walking in the Land where Jesus walked!

April 20

Arrive in Israel, the Holy Land - We are scheduled to arrive at the Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv where we will join the others who have taken the pre-Israel Mediterranean Tour. They will be waiting for us along with our experienced and expert Holy Land Guide, Elie Ben Meier who will accompany us during our entire tour of the Holy Land. We will go by bus to Natanya, on the Mediterranean coast where we are free to walk along the sea shore, get acquainted with new friends with whom we will spend the next several inspiring days, relax or take some time for reading, meditation and prayer.

April 21

Tour to North Galilee area - After a scrumptious buffet breakfast we will travel along the Mediterranean coast to Caesarea-by-the-Sea, also called Caesarea Maritima, to see Herod's Theatre which seated some 3500 and still is used for theatrical productions. Also tour the Crusaders' Fortress, and view the location of Herod's Promontory Palace. We will see the ancient aquaduct which was built to bring fresh water to the city from Mt. Carmel some 8 miles away.

Then to Mt. Carmel, near Haifa where the prophet Elijah hid from King Ahab and conquered the prophets of Baal and see the monument commemorating his victory. Here is a beautiful view of the Valley of Jezreel, through which we will travel to Megiddo, the Armageddon Battlefield. Learn about the 20 levels of civilization which have been unearthed there, tour King Solomon's Stables, and visit the tunnel to the underground spring which provided fresh water to the early civilizations.

Next we will visit Nazareth, the home of Mary and Joseph, viewing "Mary's Well" and the "Church of the Annunciation," supposed location where Mary learned that she was to be the mother of Jesus. Time permitting, we will visit Nazareth Village, a re-creation of Biblical Nazareth with costumes, animals and settings like that period of time. We move on some 8 miles to Cana of Galilee where Jesus performed his first miracle of turning water to wine at a wedding. We will visit a Catholic Church on the reputed site and have the opportunity to purchase some wine in Cana.

The next stop will be Kibbutz Ein Gev on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, where we will be staying the next two nights. A kibbutz is a collective community traditionally based on agriculture, but today they engage in other enterprises, such as to provide lodging, food and entertainment for tourists.

April 22

Follow Jesus' steps in North Galilee - Today will be exciting with visits to Caesarea Philippi at the head waters of the Jordan River and the biblical "Gates of Hell." Also we will follow the "steps of Jesus" in Capernaum, to the Mt. of Beatitudes, Tabgha (site of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes), take a cruise on the Sea of Galilee, view the remains of an ancient Galilean Sea boat, among other things, returning to the Kibbutz for the night.

April 23

The Jordan River to the Dead Sea -  Just south of where the Jordan River flows out of the Sea of Galilee is Yardenit, a location provided for baptisms in the River Jordan. We will visit there, and if any wish to have a Jordan River Baptism, it can take place here! From there we will head for the Dead Sea, visiting a number of selected sites on the way, including Mt. Tabor, Gideon's Spring, Bet-She’an, (time permitting) and Jericho, expecting to arrive at our hotel on the shore of the Dead Sea in time to do some swimming, [rather floating] before spending the night there.

April 24

Masada, Ein Gedi, to Jerusalem - Today we will tour the historic fortress of Masada, going to the top by cable car. Our guide, Elie, will enlighten us with the history of this famous zealot stand of the Jews in 70 A.D. Ein Gedi, the 'Spring of the Goats' is an oasis on the western shore of the Dead Sea and because of the fresh water from nearby springs it is a nature reserve where we will see many ibex roaming around. I Samuel 23:29-24:1 records David's seeking refuge here from Saul. Nearby we will see Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. On our trip to Jerusalem where we will spend the next four nights, we will visit "Genesis Land" and have dinner at Abraham's Tent. A masterful host will help us relive the life in the time of the Patriarchs and enjoy food served in the authentic tradition.

April 25

Bethlehem & Jerusalem sites - We will begin our day with a visit to Bethlehem where we will visit the Church of the Nativity, the Grotto of Jesus' birthplace, an olive wood carving store, and the nearby Shepherd's fields, of both the Greek and Franciscan traditions. We will return to Jerusalem and visit the Model of Jerusalem, and the Shrine of the Book where the Dead Sea Scrolls are stored under controlled conditions. We will see the Upper Room, the Roman Cardo (market place) and other nearby sites as time permits.

April 26

Mt. of Olives. Garden of Gethsemane - Today on the Mt. of Olives we will walk where Jesus walked from the Garden of Gethsemane to the Chapel of Ascension. We will visit the magnificent chapel, Pater Noster, on the site established by Constantine and his mother, Queen Helena, where Jesus taught the Lord's prayer to the disciples. It displays 140 ceramic tiles, each with the Lord's Prayer in a different language. It is reported that the Lord's Prayer is displayed in 1522 different languages and dialects in the Pater Noster. Another impressive site will be Dominus Flevit (Jesus wept over Jerusalem) and the Church of all Nations. We will cross the Kidron valley to Jerusalem to the House of Caiaphas, Judgement Hall, Pool of Bethesda, St. Ann's Church, Stephen's gate, the Western or Wailing Wall, the Temple Mount and other Jerusalem sites as time permits.

April 27

The Day of Suffering and more - Jesus walked the Via Dolorosa, "the Way of Sorrows" which we will be privileged to follow to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre today. We will hear about the history and significance of this church from our guide, Elie. We will also visit the site of Golgotha, the skull, and the Garden Tomb, believed by many, either to be, or like unto the tomb of Jesus. Here we will be privileged to receive the sacrament of the Lord's Supper. There will be some free time, when you may visit the Market Place in Old Jerusalem, the Holocaust Museum, or other places of interest.

April 28

Return to Tel Aviv for flight home -  We leave the hotel very early this morning for the Tel Aviv airport for our return home with great appreciation for the education and inspiration received from a vacation with expectation, well blessed by God's revelation!
